The Dixie Deer Classic - Fri 11am - 9pm, Sat 9am - 7pm, Sun 9am - 5pm- AWR will once again be at The Dixie Deer Classic all 3 days of the event. We will have our birds and volunteers to talk about the refuge and all we are working on. Come join us. Please note, there is an entry fee to get into the dixie deer classic. Registered volunteers who were able to spend 4 hours or more helping to man the table, contact Steve before Feb 15th for your entry passes.
Wake Forest Dirt Days - 10am - 2pm-Visit main street Wake Forest where they have closed the street for all sorts of nature displays and activities.
Jordan Lake Fishing Festival - 10am - 2pm-Join us at White Oak on Jordan Lake for their annual family fishing festival There will be family activities and displays, including some of our birds! See you there!
Umstead Park Walk / Run For The Park - 9am - 12:30pm-Join us at the reedy creek road entrance to Umstead Park for their annual fund raising run! There will be family activities and displays, including some of our birds! See you there!
Bunn Fun Day - 10am - 4pm-Join us as we help the town of Bunn NC celebrate the summer! We will have some of our birds there watching us silly humans have fun.
Carousel Farms Bull Riding / Barrel Racing - We plan to be at Carousel Farms for their upcoming season of Tuesday Night events. We will let you know when the beginning event date is announced.It should start in May.
Wake County Library Summer Reading Program Super Specials - We are working to schedule visits to many of the Wake County Libraries. We have 6 tentatively confirmed and more being planned. When we get all of the dates, we will post them here.
We are working on scheduling several programs with a local garden / nature center. More information as it develops.
